The Developmental Psychosomatics Laboratory (PI Alla Landa, PhD) at the Division of Clinical Therapeutics at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and the Department of Psychiatry of Columbia University is seeking a full-time Research Assistant. Our research bridges clinical psychology, social affective neuroscience, and psychoneuroimmunology, and is focused on the interface of emotion regulation, interpersonal well-being and physical health over the course of a person's life from early childhood through adulthood, with the goal of uncovering etiology of psychosomatic distress and developing new effective treatments. We implement multi-level research methodology including: clinical interviews, experimental paradigms of emotion, psychophysiologic and sensory assessments, brain imaging (fMRI, MRS), immune biomarkers, etc. RA will be responsible for coordinating and collecting data for the new NIH-funded study and assist with other projects in the lab. There will be opportunities to participate in data analysis and interpretation of existing data from previous studies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* coordinating all aspects of the study
* coordinating interactions between several patient recruitment sites and physicians referring patients
* screening and recruitment of study participants
* obtaining and documenting informed consent
* tracking and scheduling subjects for initial and follow-up assessments
* maintaining ethics board (IRB) documents
* conducting clinical interviews and administering self-report scales
* assisting with running interactive fMRI scans
* conducting multimodal sensory and psychophysiological assessments
* maintaining electronic data collection system and database;
* review data for completeness and accuracy; data entry
* help coordinate seminars and conferences organized by our lab
* assisting in the preparation of grant proposals, manuscripts, and presentations for professional events
* data entry, cleaning, management, analysis
* transcription of videotaped interviews
* other technical and administrative support activities

Minimum Qualifications:

* BS/BA in psychology, neuroscience, pre-med or related field
* excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* excellent organizational skills and attention to details
* clinical experience and/or experience in research with psychiatric or medical populations is preferred
* ability to work independently following initial instruction
* competent and comfortable with computers, technology
* willing to complete a phlebotomy certifications course at NYSPI and perform blood-draws
* minimum 1-year commitment required
